Josiah Kennedy: March 2013 Prayer Letter

Dear Partners in Ministry,

The year, which started with a terrible climate causing many little illnesses in the sub region, is now stable to our regular weather.  But, in it all we praise the Lord for Life, and the opportunity of knowing and serving Him in this part of the world.

We started the year with new opportunity of reaching out with the gospel message to many more people in our area.  On January 1st, we organized a church picnic for all our four churches, which is made up of the New Life Baptist Churches of Apam, Mumford, Kasoa and our church.  I had the privilege of sharing the Word on that day.  I preached on the topic, ‘Bold Life Choices,’ and two persons accepted Christ as Saviour and many more rededicated their lives to Christ.  There were about 450 people in attendance.  Praise the Lord for the sweet fellowship!

At Crossroads Baptist Church, we also baptized one person and three more are in the baptismal class, preparing for baptism soon.  We have had a few people visit our church, as a result of our evangelism program.

This month, I taught Pastoral Epistles at the New Life Baptist Bible Institute.  It was a week of intense teaching.  The Lord has blessed us with very faithful students, who are also active in church activities.  Three of the students are in their final year.  Continue to pray for God’s direction in their lives.

Recently, we started our Bible study session at Church.  Since we moved to this new location, we have been praying that the landlord will allow us to add an additional day to those we have already, and by His grace, a few weeks ago, he had agreed.  For the first two meetings, we had ten people in attendance.  Please pray that many more members will join us for the weekly Bible Study.

My Dad, (Pastor John Abedu Kennedy) just returned from a mission trip to Liberia.  It was in Liberia that the Lord called him into full-time ministry.  He ministered there for 15 years, until the Liberian civil war in 1990, when we returned to Ghana.  He tells me that his trip was very fruitful.  He had encouraged many of the pastors he previously worked with.  We praise the Lord for traveling mercies!

Thank you all for your prayers and financial support for our family and ministry over here.  The work of the Lord continues to be triumphant in the midst of great challenges that confront us as family and the ministry.  The Lord is Lord of all, and we will continue to trust in Him.

Prayers:

** My car broke down while I was traveling to teach at the New Life Baptist Bible Institute.  Since then, I have tried to get it back on the road, but am really struggling to raise the $400 that is needed to get it running properly.  Please pray with us that the Lord will provide for this need.

**As a family, we are still very far from the $1,000 target for monthly support.  To date, we are at 40% of this target.  Please pray that He continues to supply our needs.

In Christ Alone,
Josiah & Mary Abedu-Kennedy
