Tom Gilmer: March 2013 Prayer Letter

Dear Friends of Zion:

Thanks to all who supported our work in prayers and/or offerings last month.

Linda ended the month of February and began the month of March with a light case of pneumonia.  An irritating cough for several weeks preceded the pneumonia.

Patience and joy while “sowing,” “watering,” and even endeavoring to restore those who are straying are necessary in ministry.  But I most enjoy “drawing in the net” or “bringing in the sheaves,” also called “harvesting!”

An email came from a man who professed his faith in Christ as a result of studying the notes in the “Evangelism Bible,” published by a secular company that sells items door-to-door.  The Bible contains sound articles that carefully explain how to be born again.  By the way, AVON Cosmetics has now sold 25,000 Bibles with special notes for women!  Both of these Bibles are printed in the most faithful text of the Portuguese Bible, the Almeida-Corrigida-Fiel, with which we work.

The New Brazilian School Year Just Began With:

1)      Our first church inaugurating a local church, two-day-per-week Bible institute with modular classes.  The first class offered is Bibliology, taught by our missionary son, Harold Ralph.

2)      The main Bible Institute, with which we cooperate, now offers Greek and Hebrew in its curriculum.  The professors of these courses have been the object of my mentoring for a number of years.  One is working on a master’s degree in Greek at the University of São Paulo (USP), with a goal of a doctorate and eventually a master’s degree in New Testament or Greek from a seminary in the U.S.A.  The other also studies at USP, using this as an opportunity for Jewish ministry.

3)      Our São Paulo Friday night Friends of Zion group is off to a good start.  Its goal is to motivate and train Christians to present the Messiah.  Unsaved Jews have been present in all meetings so far this year.

4)      The Tuesday night Academy for the Study of the Prophets will begin in the middle of this month.  Professor David Corrêa is having recurring problems with very low immunology and needs prayer.  Thank you so much for praying.  God bless you.

Yours for the Messiah,
Tom and Linda Gilmer
