Steve Volante: July 2015 Prayer Letter

Dear Friends,

Calvary’s 19th Anniversary

Calvary’s 19th Anniversary

They say time flies when you are having fun.  Well, 20 years of serving our wonderful Lord in Ghana has come, and our first church plant in Techiman celebrated its 19th anniversary as a local New Testament church in June of 2015.  We had seven special preachers charge our church on Sunday, June 21, with short but powerful 20-minute messages.  Of these seven preachers, six of them were men that trusted Christ in our church, graduated from our Bible School, and are now planting churches in the Techiman area.  The last and final preacher of the day was my dear father, John Volante, our loving pastor and encourager for the last 30 years.  My cup runneth over!  Over the last 20 years, we have seen God bless our church so much.  Together, we have planted 10 churches in our district and helped to send missionaries to start 10 more churches in Ghana and in West Africa.  This year, we have great hope for the future with six new students entering Bible School!

Each year, as May, June, and July come around, we have the joy of hosting many dear friends and college groups from the USA.  Many come as complete strangers, but leave as lifelong friends; some come as life-long friends, but leave more like family; still others come as mere tourists, but go home with a new passion for winning souls and being a part of a team that plants churches.  We thank the Lord for each and every life He allows us to touch for His kingdom.  What a day it would be if we could gather all those who have served with us here in Ghana on a short term mission’s trip!

This year we took a team of 34 soul winners to the city of Atebubu in the Brong-Ahafo region (like a state in the USA).  Atebubu is just two hours from our home in Techiman.  For three days, we went house to house and in the streets sharing Christ with all who would listen.  We saw 230 people pray to trust in Jesus Christ as their Savior.  We were able to find, negotiate, and buy a nice piece of roadside land for the new church plant.  We were also able to secure a temporary meeting place for the church while we raise funds to build the building.  We give great thanks to our God for touching the sweet people of Bible Baptist Church in Chickasha, OK, for sending their pastor to help us both physically and financially to accomplish these things.

We want to thank each one of you so much for supporting us so we can reach “them” with the gospel!

Living for Eternity,
Pastor Stephen J. Volante
