Yant Family: November 2015 Prayer Letter

Dear Ones,

As Gorge opened the door to his apartment we introduced ourselves and asked him if he would like to have a free bag of bread. He was curious who we were and why we were there. I had knocked on the doors of his complex multiple times during the past three years but had never come into contact with him or his wife. Gorge stated that he had not attended church for four years, yet earlier that day he had considered beginning again. “But where?” was the question. That day the Lord directed us to his door. But that is not the whole story…

With me that same day was a new convert by the name of Jose. Only two weeks earlier Jose’s parents, who live on the southern border of Honduras, had just completed one week of fasting for the salvation of their son. The Saturday they finished their fast was the day the Lord led us to knock on Jose’s door. After sharing God’s plan for salvation, he and his wife, Alejandra, prayed to receive Christ. But this too is not the whole story…

It was this same Jose who was with me visiting and giving out bread the day we knocked on Gorge’s door. Jose spoke up and told Gorge that he had been saved for only a couple of weeks, “…and look,” he said, “Now I’m going out to tell others.” Jose invited Gorge to church; they both came the next day. This week Sarah and I had our fourth Bible study and discipleship meeting with them. The story continues…

In talking with Jose and Alejandra (who recently had their first child), they realized their need to be baptized. We are thrilled to see the Word of God take root in fertile ground. God is faithful to use those who are presenting the gospel and seeking souls for Christ. And while we follow Christ’s commission, we are confident the rest of the story will joyfully unfold (II Cor. 3:2).

Now as we approach Thanksgiving, our gratefulness to God for you remains in our foremost thoughts and prayers. We do not take for granted our being here in Oregon as your representatives in planting Hispanic Churches for Christ. Please continue to pray for the needs here in Oregon. We are constantly confronting souls blinded by false doctrine and sin. Pray God will pierce the darkness with the true light of the Gospel. Together with you in the harvest…

Happy Thanksgiving!
