Rom Ribeiro: February 2013 Prayer Letter

Dear Pastor and Brethren:

“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.” (I Corinthians 6:17)

You may have heard that Brazil, a country of 180 million people, has been evangelized. Nothing could be further from true, but many erroneously believe that the Charismatic Catholic Church and the neo-Pentecostal movement preach salvation by grace and through the blood of Jesus.  True Bible-believing churches are few in this country, and we are in great need of church planters. Please pray for Brazil.

Rom was invited to preach at Camp Bethel (Acampamento Betel) led my missionary Nathan Fray in the city of São Paulo. Based on Joshua 17:14-18, he spoke of the Christian’s need to pray and work, rather than murmur and do nothing, in order to conquer spiritual victories. He also challenged the campers to become obsessed with evangelism rather than with entertainment, health, money and so on (John 4).

From February 8 through 12, Brazil observed a four-day-long carnal festival of nudity, dance, and alcohol (Carnaval), with the blessings of the local city governments and various religions. Even some so-called Evangelical churches spon-sored their own Carnaval inside their own sanctuaries.  In order to flee from this, members of the four churches we established attended family camps where they were exposed to teachings of the Word of God and to the presence of God Himself. Although many of our people were at camp during those days, our churches held normal services and souls were saved. Praise the Lord!

The Lord willing, we plan to come back to the States on furlough this summer to take Roxanne to college. We also wish to share with our supporting churches the vision the Lord has given us for starting another church. We hope to be a blessing to you who have made our ministry possible. Remember to pray for God’s protection, power, provision, and presence in our lives.
