Tom Gilmer: August 2013 Prayer Letter

Dear Friends of Zion:

Thank the Lord for using you to make so much happen through your continued prayers and offerings. Thanks for being WILLING to be used by the Lord!

CHURCHES: 1) Guacuri – The deaf church is increasing in strength since the former pastor moved. He is and was a good pastor but needed time out to restore his energies and give a break to his family. The present goal is to begin with at least a weekly home meeting in the Guacuri area during the first quarter of 2014. Much bureaucratic paper work must to be cared for over the next few months. You would have to live here for a while to understand—or at least learn to put up with—this Brazilian way of life! 2) Cajuru – This church has now begun building a larger auditorium. I had promised to try to help with an offering to start the construction, but this has not been possible so far. Approval came through for them to build, so they began with what they had. Praise the Lord!!! 3) Feira de Santana, Bahia – The Lord provided a loan for the church started by José Cerqueira, our own Brazilian-supported missionary. He bought property in a promising area of his city and, by faith, has begun digging footings for the foundation, even though he has no cement. We trust we will be able to help with at least some of the cement.

AUDIO BIBLE: Maria Antonia, who accepted Christ many years ago, has only 10 per cent vision and can no longer read the Bible. Even so, she continues teaching the Bible in public schools, as she has for many years. Last month we were able to publicly present her with an audio Bible unit for her ministry and personal use. Four days later she called saying what a blessing it is, being able to locate Bible passages by book, chapter, and verse with just a touch. She even won a soul to Christ that week using the unit!
