Charles Barnes: August 2015 Prayer Letter
Dear Praying Friends,
“Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest that he will send forth labourers into his harvest” Matt. 9:38
One goal of our ministry has been to encourage preachers to consider pastoring a work here in Maine. We had the privilege of assisting Bro. David Bowman and his family with a five-week survey trip from the end of June through July. We are pleased to say that he believes the Lord has definitely led him to take over a work in northern Maine where the current pastor is ending his labors at 80 years of age. We rejoice in the goodness of God in directing this man to serve here and continue to pray the Lord will guide others to Maine, Northern New England, and the Canadian Maritimes.
Attendance at Seal Cove Baptist Church has increased with the summer months along with a number of children starting to come on a regular basis. We had a new ‘high’ with 17 on August 2nd and there remains a good spirit among the folks as well as a desire to hear the Word of God preached plainly…in spite of the recent Supreme Court decision regarding marriage. Mount Desert Island has a very ‘progressive’ mind set, but there is still a remnant that embraces the truth.
I ask a special prayer for Barbie’s mother as she had been in the hospital and rehab facilities for three weeks, but now is resting at home. She is 86 and her health does not allow her to be without a caretaker. Barbie has been spending much time with her, and because of this we do not anticipate traveling the first quarter of next year, like we have in the past two years, presenting the ministry.
Again, we want to say thank you to all those who mention us in prayer and for those who are faithfully supporting us.
Planting for Christ,
Chuck Barnes, Sr., Barbie and Kimberly
