Harold and Lílian Gilmer : February 2024 Prayer Letter
Harold and Lilian Gilmer – South America Director, Church Planter and Bible Translation in São Paulo, Brazil
Dear Brethren:
“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall
accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11).
When couples finally come to you for counsel, you know you are going to deal with a sticky situation. Without going into details, I found myself counselling a couple who desperately needed to forgive each other and who needed the Lord´s forgiveness. In this case, I was dealing with a lady, a believer who faithfully attends our Church, and her unbelieving husband. She prayed for years for his conversion, to no avail, and she was ready to throw in the towel. As in a boxing match, the count was already at nine, when they decided to forgive each other. It was sweet to see them hugging each other, as we prayed. But he did not accept Christ that evening. He said: “It will be in my time.”
Two days later, we received a call from his wife, bursting in tears. Her husband suffered an eight-foot fall from the rooftop of their home! He was rushed to the hospital with a fractured hip. By God´s grace, his head was spared any injury. He made it home in time for the Holidays, and for the first time as a family, they prayed the New Year in, rather than drowning it in alcohol.
This past Sunday, Mr. Ronaldo came to Church with his wife, walking straight and tall with his walker, just two months after his fall. (The doctors are amazed at his recovery.) He listened intently to my Sunday School lesson, read outload from the Bible we gave him, and promised to return that night. In the evening service, Pr. Sean Lunday gave a beautiful message on depression with a very clear Gospel presentation. When the invitation was given, Mr. Ronaldo raised his hand for salvation, and Bro. Uarlisson, whom we are training for the pastorate, led him to the Lord. Words cannot express the joy that filled our hearts!
Rejoice with us that, along with Mr. Ronaldo, five other people also called on the Lord since our last Prayer Letter. Praise the Lord there is still much work to be done! There are still lost sheep in need of the Lord Jesus Christ. Please pray with us, as we continue to sow the Precious Seed, which “shall not return unto me void”. Thank you for making this ministry possible through your prayers and gifts of love. May the Lord greatly bless you all!
