Very soon the courtyards at the Bethesda Children’s Home will be filled with happy children running; playing ball, or whatever new game they have up with; and squeals of laughter! I can hardly wait!

I have earnestly been asking God to begin working in their hearts now so they can be more receptive to the Gospel. I have also asked Him to prepare the hearts of those of us on staff to be sensitive to the leading of His Holy Spirit. May this be the greatest year spiritually the Homes have ever known.

Last month we had a wonderful staff retreat emphasizing the essential truths for evangelizing children. Dr. Bill Patterson, my son, challenged us to carefully deal with each child. This is a big responsibility. May the Lord give us the joy of leading many children to Him and watch them grow spiritually.

As we begin the school year, we are still short on staff. Please continue to pray for this need. We are thrilled Jonathan Arrellano and his wife are joining our staff. He is the new school principal. Several others are praying about helping to fill different positions in the Homes.

There are also extra financial needs. We have a need of about $30,000 US dollars to take care of all the staffing needs at this time. The Lord has increased my faith with Isaiah 41:13, “For the Lord will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.” I am so grateful He holds my hand and reassures me He is right there, so I do not need to fear! That means so much to this widow.

Last night, as a friend and member of Worth Baptist Church, my home church, and I packed boxes of used clothing for Tlapa, I got excited thinking about how happy the children will be to receive these things. I love these children, and I want them to know the love of God through me. “And now abideth faith, hope and charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” I Corinthians 13:13. Lord, help me be a conveyor of Your love!
