Bill and Marcy Patterson: August 2024 Prayer Letter
Bill and Marcy Patterson – MABMI President, Church Planter, Bible Translator
Welcome to class! Please do not worry about the lack of air conditioning, as the high today here in San Luis Potosi, Mexico will be in the 70’s. Our twelve students may seem to be very few, but their work may one day change entire nations. They are the hope for future Bible translations for groups that have never held God’s precious Word. Watch their faces as they suddenly understand the Biblical principles involved in reliably translating the Bible.
Former students from our class are in faraway lands, carefully working with native helpers, giving God’s word to those who once were perishing in sin. If you were there, you would see, yet again, how the light of Scriptures opens their understanding as their eyes shine brightly.
For ten weeks every year, the Lord allows us to help train Bible translators. For eight years now, one-fifth of our time is invested in training and mentoring others to do what we have done. Please keep our students in your prayers.
Are there sacrifices to be made? Well, our three children are gathering in Washington, DC this next week. Our two younger children will meet their niece, Coco, for the first time. Our tow sons-in-law, Joe and Jared, will enjoy going on coffee and photo adventures with the group. We will be 3,500 miles away, happy that they can celebrate Ryan and Tricias’ birthdays during that time. Yes, we miss them, and wish that we could be in two places at once. There is no doubt in our minds: serving God is worth any sacrifice!
As we close this letter, I humbly request your prayers for the Bethesda Children’s Homes. We are still short-staffed, under-financed, and in need of several miracles. In only two weeks, we will receive an expected 130 children. Our trust in the Lord has not wavered, and He has given us complete peace. We eagerly await a miracle.
Thank you for praying for us!
