Harold and Lílian Gilmer : December 2024 Prayer Letter
Harold and Lilian Gilmer – South America Director, Church Planter and Bible Translation in São Paulo, Brazil
Dear Brethren:
“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14).
JESUS—The Reason for the Season
When we look to Jesus, everything makes sense. He is our starting line, and He is our finish line. He is
our life, the very reason for our existence. When we look to Him, the Light of the World, everything clears us. Oh, that we might walk in His light and let Him shine through us.
Church Planting—Growing Up
Only four weeks after Pr. Uarlison´s ordination, he has experienced almost every aspect of Pastoral duties: wedding, baptism, and the Lord´s supper (he had already performed a funeral). He celebrated the wedding of a couple that was saved at our Church, who have lived together forty years, but were not married! He also baptized two men that were saved this year and culminated with celebrating the Lord´s Supper. The most special thing about all of this is that Pr. Uarlison himself was saved at our Ingá Church eleven years ago, and now he is the Pastor of our Guacuri Congregation! “This is the LORD’S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes” (Psalm 118:23). We also had our annual Missions Conference during the month of November. By God´s grace our little on gregation will be taking on one more missionary this year, bringing our mission projects to seven.
Bible Ministry—”Give ye them to eat”
“He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat” (Mark 6:37a). We can only imagine how the disciples felt when our Lord gave them that answer before a hungry multitude. That is how we feel as we look to the multitude in need of Spiritual food.
God´s Word needs to be made available to every nation, people and tongue, in the most faithful way possible. The need for Scriptures is greater than our capacity to provide, and yet our Lord says: “Give ye them to eat.” It is not our capacity to provide that is in question, but rather it is our Lord´s desire to feed the multitude that matters, for “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4b). Please pray with us, as we continue to seek to sow the Faithful Seed. (If you wish to help us in our Bible printing and distribution ministry, simply designate your gift as Bibles, and we will be able to direct your gift accordingly.) Brethren, pray for us.
Yours fellow servants in Brazil,
Harold, Lílian, Raphael and Danielle
