Mrs. Becky Patterson – Missionary to Mexico
Bethesda Children’s Homes – Tlapa, Mexico

Dear Pastor and friends,
Yamilet is one of the sweetest little girls I have ever met. Two years ago, the first day she was in the children’s home, her cousin was describing to me the difficult home life she came from. Little Yamilet had tears streaming down her cheeks. I took into my arms and started telling her how much Jesus loves her, how he even cared when she lost a hair, how no one could love her as much as Jesus. Then I shared the Gospel with her.
On a trip to Tlapa, year before last, while I was in the US recuperating from a heart procedure, all the kids were telling my daughter in law Marcy different things “Hermana Becky” has taught them. Yamilet spoke up and said Hermana Becky has taught her that Jesus loves her.
A few months ago, her teacher found a page in her notebook that was a prayer to the Lord. A picture of that page is to the left. It says, “Jesus, I trust in you and I believe you are my Savior. This day I ask you to save me. Take care of my mother and my sisters. God, I love you. I believe in Jesus my Savior.”
Recently Yamilet listened to a Mexican Christian hymn that speaks about how negligent we are about to sharing the Gospel, while Jesus died to pay for people’s sins and wants to save them, but because of our neglect, they will suffer eternally. Yamilet crumpled up and burst into tears. She told one of our teachers she had to go home right then and tell her family about Jesus. The teacher encouraged her to stay and learn better how to witness in Spanish, then in Mixtec, which is her native language. The workers at the Home are helping the girls make Wordless Books and learn how to use them. Yamilet’s mother showed up to visit her Sunday, went to church, and was witnessed to. Isn’t God amazing? Only God…
children like Yamilet is why the children’s home exists and has existed for more than 56 years. Please help us pray as we are needing additional funds for the Homes. Due to increased prices and the loss of value of the US dollar, we are having to pay 20-30% more on basic items than a year ago. While $125 per child was sufficient last year, we need $150 now. Please make this a matter of prayer. Thank you for holding our ropes!

Because He first loved us,
Becky Patterson
