Charles Barnes: January 2015 Prayer Letter
Dear Pastor and church family,
We praise the Lord for your continued kindness in praying and supporting our ministry of church planting here in Maine. There were some unexpected challenges in 2014, but the Lord is always more than sufficient in His provision of grace.
The work on Mount Desert Island, with the reopening of Seal Cove Baptist Church, is still very much in the initial process of building a solid congregation of believers. We were able to establish a church statement of faith and bylaws and finished the year with an average attendance of eleven adults with five members.
In an effort to increase our support, we will be traveling throughout the first quarter of this year presenting our ministry in churches. Chris O’Grady, my son-in-law, will be filling the pulpit during my absence. Please pray that the Lord will open the hearts of the people and those new churches will take us on as missionaries.
As I write this, we are at the Mt. Abarim Annual Missions Conference in Ft. Worth, TX. As we mingle with other missionaries from various nations, our hearts have been challenged with the great need of world evangelism. May the Lord give all of us a renewed spirit in going and giving so that the glorious light of the gospel can be spread to darkened areas here and abroad!
Planting for Christ,
Chuck Barnes, Sr., Barbie and Kimberly
