Harold and Lílian Gilmer : April 2023 Prayer Letter
Harold and Lilian Gilmer – South America Director, Church Planter and Bible Translation in São Paulo, Brazil
Dear Brethren:
“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think . . .” (Eph. 3:20a).
He Is Risen!
We had wonderful Easter Sunday services! Sunday morning we had a breakfast service and Sunday
evening a small cantata. The Lord blessed with a full house, both services. Praise the Lord, this past month
we saw five people call on the Lord as their Savior.
One-person-at-a-time
Divide et impera—divide and conquer—this was the Roman strategy for conquering the World. The amazing thing is that it worked! The old Roman strategy of divide and conquer helps us better understand the Great Commission: it boils down to one-person-at-a-time. It involves not only birthing, but also nurturing and caring, bringing to maturity. That is the heart of the Great Commission. We are now preparing the people for membership at our Congregation, getting ready to officially establish the
Church in due course. It is wonderful to see people saved, transformed and “growed” to maturity (just had to make it rhyme).
Let´s get The Word out!
By God´s grace, we reached over 100 million complete Portuguese Bibles, New Testaments and individual Bible App users since the first Portuguese New Testament was printed 50 years ago, in 1973! This is beyond the wildest dreams my father (Dr. Thomas L. Gilmer) and the other founding members of the Trinitarian Bible Society of Brazil ever had! Truly, He “is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Eph. 3:20a). We are beyond amazed at what God has done, yet, there are still people that do not have a Bible to call their own. We are lacking USD 225.000 right now to complete four Bible printings. This seems like an insurmountable amount to us at this moment, but to God . . . ah, He is still “able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Eph. 3:20a).
Yours fellow servants in Brazil,
