Harold and Lílian Gilmer : September-October 2023 Prayer Letter
Harold and Lilian Gilmer – South America Director, Church Planter and Bible Translation in São Paulo, Brazil
Dear Brethren:
“The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad” (Psalm 126:3).
“I Will Build My Church”
The Lord promised to build His Church, and we are seeing just that. By God´s grace, seven people trusted Christ as their Savior since our last letter.
We held two special days for the children, one for the girls and another for the boys, sharing with them the Gospel and practical living instructions. Some of these children come from utterly broken and dysfunctional families, drowned in alcohol and poisoned by drugs. Brethren, please pray for these children and for their families. “But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound” (Romans 5:20b).
“My Word . . . Shall Not Return Unto Me Void”
Just as important as reaching your goal, is being certain that you are on the right track. Rejoice with us, over one third of our Bible printing needs have already come in! Bible printing is not a cheap ministry: our current need stands at $199,097.72. Someone asked me recently: “From where are these funds going to come?” The correct question is not “from where”, but “from Whom”. “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19), so we are going to continue to trust in Him, Whose Name is Jehovah-jireh (the Lord provides). I heard someone say recently: “My cup is half empty and the other half is poison.” To that I say: Our cup is almost half full, and the other half is not poison! : ) “Oh for grace, to trust Him more.”
We just helped BPS get one more container of Bibles and John and Romans to Brazil. Our prayer is not only for Brazil, but for the entire ten countries and territories of the Portuguese-speaking World, which includes Angola and Mozambique. Our next challenge is to get more Bibles into these countries, as well. Please pray with us toward this end.
I had the privilege of attending the Annual General Meeting of the Trinitarian Bible Society in London this past September, by their invitation. We are very grateful for the offering they are giving to help cover the printing and distribution costs of the Golden Thoughts Calendars, a verse-for-every-day calendar. This is a great Evangelism tool.
Yours fellow servants in Brazil,
Harold, Lílian, Raphael and Danielle
