Tom and Linda Gilmer : May – June 2024 Prayer Letter
Dr. Thomas and Mrs. Linda Gilmer – Church Planter, Bible Translation in São Paulo, Brazil
May-June 2024
Dear Friends of Zion:
Thank you for making our ministries possible during two more months through your prayers and offerings. Many projects are before us, for which we praise the Lord and ask for further prayers!
PRAISE:
- Professions of faith: 3.
- I sent correspondence regarding Education to an aid to the Vice President of Brazil, a Jew to whom I
witnessed years ago when he was beginning his political career. He replied with openness to continue correspondence. This is a critical area in Brazil right now! - I also sent correspondence to a Brazilian Jewish Syndicated Columnist, who has been witnessed to many times by a Friend of Zion to whom we furnish literature. He replied, expressing much gratitude for true Christian support of Israel.
- The ministry of the deaf church that meets at our first church, Templo Batista de Indianópolis, is in
transition and expanding.
PRAYER:
- For salvation decisions: Jews and Gentiles.
- Ongoing Bible projects and study helps.
- Church projects: Deaf church, Parque Bristol, and others.
- Wisdom for working with transitions of various pastors in several different churches and ministries.
- $5,000 needed for the Bi-Annual Baptist Bible Congress to be held in Manaus in July.
- $1,000 for a Leadership Conference, to help with passages and housing for some who should attend, also in July.
- Paraisópolis, a large slum: a church which we and missionary Harold Ralph helped start with Washington Ximenes, a bank manager, who resigned his job and moved into a building provided with monies from a church in Singapore. It is now being led by our fellow missionaries, Mark and Dana McCutcheon. The Paraisópolis church had to move to a larger, rented area. The rent has tripled. $11,000 is needed urgently for immediate help. Purchase of the building will be $200,000(+ -); also used for educational and other activities to enable people to become self-supporting and leave the slum.
- Funds for Bibles for flood victims in the south of Brazil.
Brethren, pray for us! I have a list of 32 projects for which I am praying and helping as God provides. The
fields are white unto harvest, but the laborers are few.
May God richly bless you all.
Yours for the Messiah,
Tom and Linda Gilmer
