August 2021 Newsletter

Wow, what a busy summer this has been! May this letter be an encouragement to you as you read of God’s blessings upon us. We are so grateful for all that God has done.

Mexico Staff Retreat: For the past eight years, Marcy and I have taught and led summer retreats for the staff at the Bethesda Children’s Homes and the Mexican office of Mount Abarim at the request of my Dad, Dr. Mike Patterson. Last year, due to COVID, we were unable to host a retreat, and this year’s retreat was the best! Twenty-six of us gathered to study God’s Word, pray, and prepare to serve Him in the next year.

Bible Translation News: In the next three months, I will be teaching five one-week Bible translation modules in colleges in Mexico and in Ohio. The Lord continues to increase the number of students in both colleges who are preparing to translate His Word. We know of at least three projects that are being led by our former students. Our Mongolian translation team also continues their work despite the obstacles they have faced. Please pray that God may soon allow us to return to Mongolia to help our team.

Mount Abarim Update: During our recent mid-year Executive Committee meeting, we accepted a new missionary to Ecuador, the Franco Loyola family. We are so excited to see how God is going to use this family and the vision they have to start a church in the capital city of Quito with a facility to train pastors. In less than one month, Marcy and I will be visiting some of our other missionaries in Ecuador, including a missionary who is planning to join Mount Abarim. We will be in seven churches in fourteen days. The work that God is doing in Ecuador is nothing short of a miracle. There is a spirit of revival and church growth that is incredible!

Family Update: In two days, Tricia leaves for her junior year at West Coast Baptist College. Ryan and Heather continue in their jobs of marketing and graphic design. Marcy has been able to travel with me, and our schedule is full for the rest of this year. Through special offerings received, we have begun to pay off some of the debt that we had incurred. Thank you very much for praying for us, and for faithfully supporting this ministry.

Please keep us in your prayers!
