Becky Patterson and the Bethesda Homes – February 2024 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

“A merry heart make a cheerful countenance…” Proverbs 15:13a. A good example of the truth of this verse is demonstrated in the faces of the beautiful teenage girls from the Bethesda Children’s Home pictured on this page. Without the Home, these girls might have already been sold by their parents to some man in the mountains. Yes, I mean sold for money, as you would sell an animal. They would probably be working in the fields, scrounging the countryside looking for firewood to cook their tortillas, grinding corn by hand on a stone metate, having one baby after another, living a life of squalor and neglect, with little hope of a brighter future. All of that is a different story for them after coming to the Homes. At Bethesda, they have found the Lord and life for them now is a completely different story. The joy of the Lord has filled their souls. They have a bright future, not only in Heaven one day, but also here on Earth. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:1.

Changed lives and bright futures is what Bethesda Children’s Homes is all about. As the children attend bible classes, memorize Scripture, and become involved in the local church their lives are drastically changed. Isaiah 55:11 promises us that God’s Word will not return void, but it shall accomplish His purpose in people’s hearts and lives.

For the future of the ministry, at least fifty improvements are close to being finished at the Homes. Please help us pray the $41,000 still needed to complete everything will be provided. We are so close to being done. The children and the staff are thrilled with each accomplishment.

At the farm, new crops are being grown to see what produces best. We are still experimenting with different species. The children are enjoying fresh vegetables on a regular basis. Bananas are available year round. With the plan of planting corn in three different stages, they have fresh roasting ears each month.

Please keep me and the Bethesda Children’s Home in your prayers. Anything of eternal value will only come through prayer and the working of the holy spirit. Thank you for your part in being a “fellow helper to the truth.” 3 John verse 8b. “And let us not grow weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Galatians 6:9

In Christ’s love,
