Becky Patterson and the Bethesda Homes : May 2026 Newsletter
Mrs. Becky Patterson – Missionary to Mexico
Bethesda Children’s Homes – Tlapa, Mexico
Dear Pastor and friends,

Mexico celebrates many holidays the US does not celebrate. The month of May is especially full of them. May 1 was Labor Day, May 3 is Bricklayers’ Day. May 5 is the memorial for the Battle of Puebla. May 10 is Mother’s day, May 15 is Teachers’ Day, May 23 is Students’ Day, and so on. To the left you will see a cute picture of some of our smallest children dressed up to commemorate the holidays celebrated only this week.
April 30 was Children’s Day. Our church here in Tlapa held Bible Clubs in different areas of town to take advantage of this day to share the Gospel. The older children and workers at Bethesda were involved in this outreach. There were many professions of faith. We praise the Lord!
The younger children in the Homes had class parties, and even on pinata, to enjoy the day. The older ones look forward to Students’ Day when we will take everyone swimming on two different days. Brother Bill and Marcy Paterson will be with us for Teachers’ Day, and we plan to celebrate with a big pot of delicious pozole. We have some good times here at Bethesda!
Reyna and Luis, who were both injured in the bus wreck in December, are doing well. Reyna is able to walk short distances with a walker. Luis is now off of crutches. Reyna has shown exemplary faith through this trial. She has kept herself busy crocheting embroidering, reading her Bible, praying and keeping a diary/devotional book, She spent four months indoor before being able to sit in the garden for a few minutes one day a week ago. God’s grace has been evident in her life. I am in awe.
I am so thankful for each of you who keeps us in your prayers. We have some great times, but there are also daily spiritual battles. Most of the children come form homes and villages where witchcraft is a part of life as they know it. Some parents even practice it. There is no doubt the evil one does everything he can to keep their minds and hearts troubled and blinded to the truth. We need your prayers and we greatly appreciate them. This task is beyond our ability. We must have the Lord’s help!

Thank you for your continued prayer and faithful financial support.
Because He first loved us,
Becky Patterson
