Tom Gilmer Prayer Letter: November 2016
Dear Friends of Zion:
Your continued, faithful prayers and offerings in support of our work brought us through another month. Thank you so much!
JEWISH LEADERS: Linda and I were invited to attend a program at the Hebrew Club to honor the memory of the late President of Israel, Shimon Peres. My presence was publicly recognized as a pastor and leader of the Amigos de Sião (Friends of Zion). This afforded the opportunity to renew acquaintances with some Jewish and political authorities, meet new ones and give them literature. Several invited me to schedule meetings with them in their offices.
You may have seen in the news that UNESCO, an agency of the United Nations, proposed a resolution to deny Israel’s historic presence on the Temple Mount, where Solomon’s Temple stood long before Islam existed. Sadly, Brazil voted with the majority of nations in favor of that resolution. We are motivating people to write to government officials, encouraging them to reverse that decision. If there was never any Jewish presence there, then the Bible and Christianity are lies! Jesus taught in Herod’s Temple, constructed on that site and destroyed by Titus in 70 A.D., before Mohammed was born. The Western Wall stands as proof.
CHURCHES: Praise the Lord our second church, Templo Batista de Cajuru, has finally been able to overcome government bureaucracy and start construction of a new, larger auditorium. Cooperating with about ten other churches in that region, they completed their goal of establishing a church in Serra Azul (see our February 2015 prayer letter) without USA support. Now these churches plan to begin meetings in another city.
Our church in Aracati, inspired by the Cajuru initiative, is praying about forming a group of churches in their general area to start a new church as a collective project, since they cannot do it alone. Thus, the Great Commission continues to be fulfilled, churches building churches. Harold Ralph’s prayer letter will update you on the Guacuri church project.
PRAYER AND PRAISE: Various ministry projects have been on our PRAYER list for a very long time. Progress is continuous but slow. To avoid monotony, we are placing all the requests from “Bible study helps” to “Warehouse for Bibles” into one listing and, as any notable answer to prayer becomes apparent, we will mention it in the PRAISE section and/or body of the letter. Thank you for praying with us and for us! May God continue to richly bless you.
Yours for the Messiah,
Tom and Linda Gilmer
