Harold and Lilian Gilmer: August 2014 Prayer Letter

Dear Brethren,

It is such a joy and a privilege to be your representative for the Gospel´s sake in Brazil. Thank you for your faithful prayers and support. We have faced several trials lately that would not be possible to overcome, were it not for your prayers. Thank you for praying.

Team Church Planting

Praise the Lord, Mrs. Stephanie Lunday received a clean bill of health. The mild heart attack she suffered did not affect her heart and she will not need surgery. The doctors have recommended that she avoid stress, for there is no guarantee that this may not happen again. Please keep the Lunday family in your prayers.

I must say that Pr. Sean Lunday made it very easy for us to oversee Igreja Batista Nova Vida in his absence, having followed the advice of Jethro to Moses, placing leaders over each area of ministry in the Church. Besides this, we are preparing Carlos, a godly young man and my assistant at the Bible Society, to be ordained upon Pr. Sean´s return. He is coordinating the various ministries and making things run smoothly. We praise the Lord for Carlos.

Bible Ministry

In our last prayer letter, we mentioned that are hearts sank when we realized that two words were missing in last print run that we did in Korea of 13,000 Bibles. Praise the Lord the press was able to create a small sticker of these two words that solved the problem very nicely. We are taking double care to insure that this does not happen again. Thank you for your prayers.

On my way to a Convention on behalf of the Trinitarian Bible Society of Brazil, I sat next to a young man on the airplane who wore a cross. This helped strike a conversation, and I asked him in whom he was trusting to get him to Heaven. From there I was able to share the Gospel and lead him to Christ. What a joy it is to lead a lost sheep to the Great Shepherd.

The whole purpose of our Bible ministry is for the glory of God and the salvation of men. We want to be an auxiliary to local Churches and individuals in sowing the Precious Seed. Please pray that the Lord will continually grant us to be instrumental in the spreading of the Precious Seed in the Portuguese-speaking world, so that many might become “. . . Wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Tim. 3:15b).

Your servants in Brazil,
Harold, Lílian, Raphael and baby
