Tom Gilmer: November 2015 Prayer Letter
Dear Friends of Zion:
Linda and I deeply appreciate your prayers and offerings.
“Israel Appreciation Night”: Beautiful posters, websites, and emails attracted favorable attention of Jews. The auditorium of São Paulo’s largest fundamental Baptist church was filled to capacity on October 26. More Hebrew Christians were gathered in one place than we have seen in Brazil in a long time. A Christian Jewess from Israel and the widow of a Jew, who has sons in ministry in Israel, shared how we played a part in their salvation experience.
Brazil’s Ethical, Political and Economic Crisis: A brief window of opportunity to acquire property for fewer dollars in Brazil is open. Brazil faces a terrible economic situation, created by corruption at very high levels. The scene is like watching a replay of an old film. Some aspects are worse than any we have witnessed during our 49 years in Brazil. Prayer is needed.
The number of professing “Christians” claiming to be non-Catholic has climbed to 30% or more. The majority of these have just changed their religious label for churches led by wolves in sheep’s clothing who do not have Biblical doctrine, standards or ethics. Many unscrupulous religious and political leaders joined forces, bringing Brazil to a moment of political and financial chaos.
Missionaries with US$ can buy property in Brazil to build churches for about half the cost of a few months ago. This does not mean missionaries need less money for living expenses! Prices in general have gone up, but a financial real estate bubble burst, lowering property value.
Please read Rom and Rachel Ribeiro’s prayer letter included with this letter, and help them acquire needed land for their new church in Ribeirão Preto for less than half the price of a few weeks ago.
Guacuri Church Plans and Bible Warehouse: We hope to avoid a major fund-raising endeavor for these projects. Changes in plans for Guacuri have actually benefitted several preacher boys and missionaries, helping them get into their present ministries. Please read Guacuri details in Harold Ralph and Lilian’s prayer letter, enclosed. We are also endeavoring to relocate the Bible Society to an area where property costs less per square foot than where we are presently located. This will help us better serve Bearing Precious Seed ministries.
May God richly bless you. Thank you for your prayers.
Yours for the Messiah,
Tom and Linda Gilmer
