Harold and Lilian Gilmer – South America Director, Church Planter and Bible Translation in São Paulo, Brazil

Dear Brethren:
“When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.” (Deuteronomy 8:10).

A Time for Giving Thanks

The very first verse that I memorized as a child was Deuteronomy 8:10. We need to take time to bless the Lord and thank Him “. . . from Whom all blessings flow.”

We certainly have much to thank the Lord for. We are grateful to report that nine people trusted Christ as their Savior last month. One of those people was José, a man whom we have witnessed to for some time now. José is a peculiar man, who lives on the street and survives by recycling other people’s trash. But even in such a condition, he is a hard worker, always walking at a fast pace. This past month, José attended a Sunday evening service and at the invitation he raised his hand. I had the privilege of leading José to the Lord. I mentioned that if he wanted a place to shower, he could do so at the Church. He asked if he could do so right then. He left that night washed inside and out. Oh, praise the name of Jesus!

We need to say a special Thank You to Lighthouse Baptist Church in Columbus Mississippi for the special offering they gave for Bibles. By God´s grace, the Lord has provided for the printing of 25,000 giant print Bibles. We are humbled to see how the Lord is providing for our needs on a day-by day basis, just as He promised. If we are to lead people to walk with the Lord by faith, then by faith we must walk with the Lord ourselves. Anything less than that would be hypocrisy on our part.
