Dr. Leonardo Rivas and Amazing Grace Children’s Home – 2020 Annual Update

Dr. Leonardo and Mrs. Esperanza Rivas – Amazing Grace Children’s Home
Ministry to Children in Zacango, Mexico

The “Rivers of Mercy Children’s Homes” began in 1998, in the community of Zacango, Mexico. In 2010, the name was changed to Amazing Grace Children’s Homes by the founders, Dr. Leonardo Rivas and Mrs. Esperanza Rivas. From its beginning until now, we have worked with the local DIF (Family Unit Development Agency) in the municipalities of Acolman, Texcoco, Tezoyuca, Ecatepec, Tecámac, Jocotititlan, Atenco, and Otumba. All of these are in the state of Mexico.

We are an organization that transforms and builds up the social fiber of our state, helping hundreds of children and youth that are orphaned, abused, or at risk. We help them physically, morally, intellectually, and spiritually. This allows them to reintegrate into society in a noble and productive manner. We use traditional social assistance, but also use programs designed to help their moral and spiritual character, leading them to a full restoration of their principles and values.

This has been accomplished in a first-class facility ensuring their safety, unity, and harmony. We provide them academically with scholarships, materials, healthy food, complete medical attention, and recreational and cultural activities. We are grateful for the support given by pastors, churches, and brethren who have supported this ministry through the Mount Abarim Baptist Mission and its director, Dr. Bill Patterson. Because of your support, it has been possible to help boys and girls who desperately need the help of God, the Father of orphans (Psalm 86:5). Psalm 27:10 says: “When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.”

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 15:58
